Our Mission
At Student Advocacy, we believe that every child has worth, every child has potential, and every child deserves an excellent education.
But many children struggle in school, challenged by undiagnosed learning disabilities, mental or physical health issues, or trauma. Receiving the assistance they need is critical, but can be a complicated, daunting process.
Since 1982, Student Advocacy has provided legally-based education advocacy services for local youth who are seriously challenged, and at risk of failing or dropping out of school. We are currently the only organization exclusively dedicated to providing this assistance to students in Westchester and Putnam counties.
Because nearly 85% of our clients live in poverty, our services are offered free of charge to families, or on a sliding scale. Our work is funded by the support of Westchester-based grant-making organizations, generous donors, corporate sponsors, and foundations. An investment in our work is an investment in our community.
